After reading about present Secretary of Defense Robert Gate's remarks at West Point that a S of D would be "unwise" to recommend another American land army into Asia or the Mideast and that that S of D "should have his head examined" (quoting General McCarther) before making such a recommendation. I wonder how recent history would be different if Gates, not Donald Rumsfeld, had been the defense secretary when we went into Iraq. Rummy and Veep Cheney wouldn't have been able to double-team GW and maybe we wouldn't be in the losing situation we're in. Who knows?
Although Cheney was a year older, he was a year behind me at UW. I never knew him and the Casper guys never mentioned him.
